Adult Membership Class

ADULTS!     Plan Now!

On Saturday, February 11, from 9:00-3:00, in our Fellowship Hall,   there will be an Adult Membership Class for those who want to see what it means to be a member at the Rock- ford United Methodist Church.
At noon, we will have a meal together, provided free-of-charge, for both you and your children.
During our time together, Child-Care, for those up through age-4, will be provided, and because of the Child-Care and all the preparations that must be made for the Saturday meal, your reservation for this Membership Class needs to be called in to the Church Office by Wednesday, February 8.
Adults, this will be an opportunity for you to learn more about yourself, our Church, the Christian faith, and more about our denomination.
After the Saturday class is over, you will have the opportunity to decide whether membership in our Church is right for you or not.   Those deciding to join our Church will do so on Sunday morning, February 19.
Either way, adults, this is an great way for you to meet some new people in our Church, do some investigating about the Christian faith, and to find out for yourself what you and our Church believes! I hope to see you on Saturday, February 11!
Any questions?   Please call me!

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday

Beginning on Wednesday, February 22, we will be entering the Holy Season of Lent on that special day we Christians call Ash Wednesday, and on that evening, we will have a combined 6:30 worship service with our friends from the First Congregational Church in their sanctuary.

Please Note: We will still begin the evening with our meal in the Fellowship Hall from 5:30 to 6:15, but the Ash Wednesday Service will take the place all the other regular activities that are usually held on Wednesday evenings.

The Ash Wednesday Service itself is a time when we will examine our lives in the light of Jesus Christ, remembering our Lord's great and powerful sacrifice for us. We will also
participate in a special ashes-and-oil service.

As many of you know, Lent is a time of spiritual preparation before the holy day and season of Easter. The season of Lent lasts for forty-days, and was begun to commemorate our Lord's time of praying and fasting in the wilderness before His ministry began.

I strongly encourage you to join us, not only for our combined 6:30 worship service at the First Congregational Church on Feb. 22, but also to join us each Sunday morning during Lent as we re-examine our lives in the light of that old rugged cross and see Christ's amazing love and grace for each of us!   See you then!

Wednesday Night Adult Bible Study

You've heard, of course, of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but how much do you know about Abraham's great grandson -- about Isaac's
grandson -- and about Jacob's son, Joseph?
Beginning on Wednesday night, Feb. 8, at 6:30, in the sanctuary, I will be leading a seven-week study on the very interesting life
of Joseph.   If you have ever wanted to know more about damaged family relationships, about using discretion with others, about being a person of integrity, about discerning the will of God for your life, and about forgiving those who are difficult to forgive,
then this Study is for you!
Join us Wednesday nights at 6:30 in the sanctuary as we learn more about Joseph, about ourselves, and about our faith!
